Chat Exporter is designed to help you save your own ChatGPT conversations to local files from the browser session where you are already signed in.

The short version

Local exports. Conversation files are created by your browser and saved on your device.
No ChatGPT password. Chat Exporter does not ask for your ChatGPT login credentials.
No persisted bearer tokens. Session information is handled transiently inside the signed-in ChatGPT page context.
No developer access to exports. Conversation content, metadata, settings, checkpoints, authentication headers, and bearer tokens are not sent to the developer.
No third-party export service. The extension does not upload your archive to a separate rendering or storage service.

Data processed

Chat Exporter processes ChatGPT conversation content and metadata needed to create local export files. It also stores local settings, selected file types, and conservative resume checkpoints in browser extension storage.

The extension uses transient ChatGPT session information inside the signed-in ChatGPT page context so your own conversations can be requested from ChatGPT.

Data sharing

Chat Exporter does not sell user data, use user data for advertising, transfer user data for unrelated purposes, or use user data to determine creditworthiness or lending eligibility.

User control

You can stop an export, clear saved progress from the panel, delete downloaded files, and remove the extension to delete browser-local extension data.
